These feelings are normal and they’re exactly why I set up The Dedicated Downsizer.
I’m Jennie Saunders. I have a background in occupational therapy and over 20 years’ experience supporting older people and their families through complex life transitions — including hospital discharge, adapting homes to changing needs, and later-life housing decisions.
That background also means I understand how physical ability, energy levels and the home environment interact as needs change in later life.
Downsizing is often mistaken for simple decluttering. In reality it usually involves sorting through decades of belongings, making emotional decisions, coordinating professionals and managing a significant life transition.
Families often try to manage the process together, but it quickly becomes clear that the practical and emotional load is far greater than anyone expected.
My role is to bring structure and clarity to that situation — helping you work through decisions step by step, keeping the process moving while ensuring you remain in control of every choice.
As circumstances change, we adjust the plan together so progress continues at a pace that feels manageable..

During this meeting we talk through your situation, untangle what is currently feeling complicated, and create a clear plan for moving forward.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before contacting me. Many people begin with a
